AFS Lifetime Scholarly Achievement Award

About this program

The American Folklore Society presents the AFS Lifetime Scholarly Achievement Award annually to a living senior scholar who has demonstrated outstanding scholarly achievement over the course of a career. The recipient is honored at the Society’s annual meeting and receives a certificate and $500 honorarium. Nominations are due April 15 and must be submitted through the AFS prize application form, with packages limited to 25 pages and documenting the candidate’s scholarship, professional contributions, service, honors, and related achievements. Nominees not selected initially remain under consideration for two additional review cycles.
