AFS Stipends for International Participants

About this program

The American Folklore Society offers competitive travel stipends of $500–$800 to support folklorists and other cultural specialists traveling from outside the United States and Canada to attend and present at its Annual Meeting. Preference is given to early-career applicants, independent scholars, freelance practitioners, and those with limited or no institutional travel support. Applicants must have submitted a presentation proposal, must not be residing in North America or have previously received an international travel award, and must submit a single Word or PDF file containing a cover letter, 100-word statement of purpose, plans for sharing the meeting experience, and current CV by July 1.
