AGA Research Scholar Award

About this program

The American Gastroenterological Association Research Foundation offers six Research Scholar Awards of $100,000 annually for three years ($300,000 total) to support early-career investigators pursuing independent research careers in digestive diseases. Funding begins July 1, 2027, and applications are due December 2, 2026. Applicants must hold an MD, PhD, or equivalent degree; have a full-time faculty or equivalent position at a North American institution; be within seven years of completing clinical training or earning a PhD; and maintain AGA membership. Projects may be basic, translational, or clinical, and require a sponsor, mentor, institutional commitment, and at least 50% protected effort for the proposed research.
