AGU Ambassador Award

About this program

The American Geophysical Union (AGU) awards the annual AGU Ambassador Award to one to five honorees who have made outstanding contributions in societal impact, service to the Earth and space science community, scientific leadership, and talent promotion that go beyond traditional disciplinary recognition. Nominations (peer or self) are accepted 5 January–2 March; nominators/co‑nominators must be active AGU members and all parties must comply with AGU’s conflict of interest and professional conduct policies. Eligible nominees include early‑career, middle‑career, or experienced scientists (per AGU career‑stage policy) and are evaluated on the scope, duration and quality of impact, cross‑community engagement and reach, pioneering/ethical risk taking, multidisciplinary impact, and alignment with AGU strategic goals. Recipients receive an engraved award, recognition at AGU’s annual meeting, two Honors Reception tickets, and may be inducted into the AGU College of Fellows if they meet the three‑year continuous membership requirement and are not already Fellows.
