AGU Ambassador Award

About this program

The American Geophysical Union (AGU) awards the annual AGU Ambassador Award to one to five honorees in recognition of outstanding contributions in societal impact, service to the Earth and space science community, scientific leadership, and promotion of talent beyond traditional disciplinary awards. Honorees receive an engraved award, recognition at AGU's annual meeting and two Honors Reception tickets, and may be inducted into the AGU College of Fellows if they meet the College's membership criteria (including three consecutive years of AGU membership and not already being a Fellow). Nominees may be early-, middle- or experienced-career scientists; nominations may be submitted by peers or self, but nominators/co‑nominators must be active AGU members and all parties must comply with AGU conflict-of-interest and professional conduct policies. Nominations are evaluated on scope, duration and quality of impact, community engagement and reach, pioneering and ethical leadership, multidisciplinary influence and alignment with AGU strategic goals; nomination window is 5 January–2 March (contact honors@agu.org).
