AI for Information Security (AWS ARA)

About this program

Amazon’s Amazon Research Awards (ARA) / AWS is soliciting machine-learning research proposals to advance cloud information security in areas including threat/intrusion/anomaly detection, malware analysis, vulnerability discovery, privacy-preserving methods, learning with limited or noisy labels, causal inference, graph-based anomaly detection, and zero/one‑shot learning. Selected PIs may receive one‑year unrestricted awards typically up to $80,000 USD plus up to $20,000 in AWS promotional credits, along with training resources; budgets must be specified in USD and should not include administrative overhead. Applicants must follow the ARA program rules (see FAQ) and prepare proposals using the provided template; selection is based on potential research impact and scientific quality. Awardees are expected to acknowledge ARA support, report publications/outputs and provide periodic updates; note that the submission period for this particular call has closed and decisions were to be issued in early 2021.
