About this program
The Archaeological Institute of America’s Site Preservation Program awards grants up to $15,000 to support innovative conservation, protection, and monitoring projects for threatened archaeological sites, and maintains the Nancy Wilkie Emergency Funds for rapid response to imminent threats. Projects that include education and public outreach components are especially encouraged; the program has supported over 30 projects across five continents. Applications are evaluated annually with a November 1 deadline, and applicants must propose site-focused preservation, conservation, protection, or monitoring activities (with outreach recommended).
