AILA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Law Student Scholarship

About this program

The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) offers the DEI Law Student Scholarship to provide academic, professional, and financial support to ten law students from historically underrepresented groups interested in practicing immigration law; each recipient receives $750 for tuition or related academic expenses, mentorship from AILA DEI National Committee attorneys, and publication/recognition through AILA channels, and must contribute a 200–300 word blog post. Applicants must be AILA Law Student Members (provide member number), be enrolled and in good standing in law school (part- or full-time), and identify as members of diverse or underrepresented groups. Required materials are a current unofficial law school transcript and a one-page personal statement (maximum 500 words) addressing immigration-law experience, financial need and intended use of funds, DEI obstacles faced, and plans for advocacy; statements over 500 words will be disqualified.
