About this program

The American Laryngological Association (ALA) offers the ALA Post‑Graduate Member Research Grant to support basic, translational, or clinical research on the pathogenesis, pathophysiology, diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of laryngeal diseases, with priority for projects likely to evolve into NIH‑competitive programs. Awards provide up to $15,000 for a single 12‑month, non‑renewable period (up to $1,000 may be budgeted for PI travel to the ALA annual meeting); funds may not be used for the PI’s salary, professional salaries, capital equipment, or institutional indirect costs, and the grant is awarded to the applicant’s institution. Eligible applicants are otolaryngologists who have completed laryngology fellowship training, are current ALA Post‑Graduate Members, and are citizens of the United States or Canada; prior ALA grant recipients or those with funding for the same research are ineligible. A Letter of Intent to Maxine.c@comcast.net is required and full PDF applications must include institutional and department chair support/signatures, biosketches, detailed proposal and budget, IRB/IACUC approval or pending status, and a one‑page mentor support letter for mentored projects; interim and final reports are required and ALA retains first refusal for presentation/publication.
