About this program

The Allen Foundation, Inc. supports U.S.-based programs and research advancing human nutrition in health, education, training, and sustainable food systems, including nutritional research, maternal and child nutrition education, workforce training, and initiatives addressing the root causes of hunger. Applications are accepted twice annually, by January 15 and July 15, for consideration at the foundation’s spring and fall board meetings. Eligible applicants must be U.S.-domiciled nonprofit organizations with IRS 501(c)(3) status or qualifying governmental entities; certain institutions such as hospitals, schools, and community organizations may also be considered. Academic research must be led by a full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty PI, and university applications are subject to a 5% overhead cap.
