AMATYC Teaching Excellence Award

About this program

The American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges (AMATYC) offers its Teaching Excellence Award biennially to recognize outstanding two-year college mathematics, mathematics education, or statistics instructors; each awardee receives an AMATYC medallion and a $500 check. Eligible nominees must be current regular, lifetime, retired, or adjunct AMATYC members whose primary role is teaching in the first two years of college, with at least five full-time-equivalent years of relevant teaching experience and at least one relevant course taught within the preceding two years. Nominations, including self-nominations, are due the second Friday of December in even-numbered years and must include the nomination form, a brief vita, specified recommendation letters, and a summary of recent student evaluations; current Executive Board and Teaching Excellence Award Committee members, as well as previous awardees, are ineligible.
