American Society for Aesthetics Dissertation Fellowships

About this program

The American Society for Aesthetics offers up to two Dissertation Fellowships annually to support original, significant research in aesthetics and enable doctoral candidates to complete their dissertations. Each fellowship provides $30,000 plus up to $5,000 for dissertation-level tuition and fees, with applications due January 10, 2027, for the August 15–August 14 fellowship year. Applicants must be doctoral candidates at North American institutions, ASA members, and reasonably expect to complete their dissertations during the fellowship year. Applicants must submit an English-language package including a dissertation abstract, prospectus and completion plan, CV, transcripts, writing sample, references, and institutional certifications; fellows generally may not hold employment or concurrent major fellowships.
