About this program
The South Atlantic Modern Language Association (SAMLA), sponsored by Dr. Elizabeth West, offers the Amos Distinguished Chair Award to support two scholarly panels at each annual conference for five years beginning with SAMLA 94. The award provides registration funds for all presenting panel members and chairs, honoring Elena Diaz-Verson’s support for global studies. Eligible chairs must submit a session proposal through Ballast by July 15, indicate their interest in the award, and propose panels with a global focus on biography, archives, or digital humanities; applications are reviewed internally by SAMLA.
