About this program

The American Musicological Society (AMS) offers the AMS 75 Publication Awards for Younger Scholars, supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, and other donors, to assist early career musicologists in publishing their first books. This subvention covers book production costs and reduces retail prices, promoting the dissemination of original research or pedagogical tools in musicology. Eligibility is limited to scholars who earned their PhD or terminal degree within 12 years of application, with appeals considered for those with career interruptions due to personal circumstances. Applications are accepted twice a year in February and August.
