Angela S.M. Kuo Memorial Award

About this program

The Angela S.M. Kuo Memorial Award, endowed through OREF and administered by POSNA, provides up to $40,000 (one award annually) for 1–2 years to recognize and support an outstanding young investigator and help seed a long-term research career, with priority for projects aligned with POSNA’s Clinical Research Agenda. Applicants must be POSNA Candidate Active or Active members in good standing with fewer than 12 years of practice as of January 1 of the submission year; non-orthopaedic MDs, PhDs, or DVMs are eligible if affiliated with an orthopaedic department and partnered with a POSNA orthopaedic surgeon as Co-PI. Award selection uses a two-stage competitive review—applicants must first receive a highly competitive grant score and then advance to a supplemental review of CV and personal narrative—and required materials include a CV, statement of career goals, and a letter of recommendation from a POSNA member. Current grant or award recipients are generally ineligible to apply until their existing projects and final reports are complete, with limited exceptions.
