ANZSPED Medals (Robert Vines, Norman Wettenhall, Nursing/Allied Health Medal)

About this program

The Australia and New Zealand Society for Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes (ANZSPED) awards three medals—the Robert Vines Medal, the Norman Wettenhall Medal, and the ANZSPED Medal for Excellence in Nursing, Allied Health or Laboratory Science—to recognise outstanding clinicians, researchers, mentors, teachers and advocates in paediatric diabetes and endocrinology; medals are conferred on a rotating three‑year basis at the ANZSPED Annual Scientific Meeting. Each medal has specific focus areas: clinical excellence, mentorship and advocacy for the Robert Vines Medal; research excellence, translation and mentoring/policy involvement for the Norman Wettenhall Medal; and exceptional nursing/allied health or laboratory science contributions, advocacy and high‑level involvement in policy, teaching or training for the Nursing/Allied Health Medal. Nominees must be financial ANZSPED members for more than 10 years and actively involved in ANZSPED, be nominated by two financial members with a letter of endorsement and a recent CV (self‑nominations are not accepted), and current ANZSPED council members or prior recipients of the same award are ineligible.
