AOA RFA: Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMM/OMT)

The American Osteopathic Association’s Bureau of Osteopathic Research and Public Health (BORPH) solicits patient-focused clinical, interventional, and translational research proposals to strengthen the scientific basis of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine and Treatment (OMM/OMT), offering awards up to $100,000 for projects from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2028 (24 months). Studies should demonstrate clear clinical relevance to osteopathic distinctiveness and may address conditions such as arthritis, back pain, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, asthma/COPD, infectious diseases, or other relevant disease states using protocolized or pragmatic designs. Eligible applicants include experienced and new investigators, physicians in training, and osteopathic medical students, and proposals must present a clear hypothesis and study design. Interventional studies require an evidence-based or evidence-informed rationale and consistent data collection across providers, while translational projects must build on prior findings and apply them to osteopathic practice and patient care.
