APA Young Investigator Awards

About this program

The Academic Pediatric Association (APA) offers the Young Investigator Awards (YIA) Funding Path to support one‑year pediatric clinical and public‑health research projects across domains such as health services research, medical education, adolescent medicine, public health, epidemiology, emergency medicine, child maltreatment, hospital medicine, and developmental/behavioral pediatrics. Recipients may receive up to $10,000; projects must begin at the Pediatric Academic Societies (PAS) Meeting and conclude by the following PAS Meeting, with the number and amount of awards determined annually by the APA Board of Directors. Applicants must propose work that can be initiated and completed within one year and address important child or adolescent health concerns; proposals that do not focus on underserved populations or health disparities are at a significant disadvantage, and preference is given to projects with potential to lead to larger, longer‑term studies.
