About this program
The Asian Pacific American Religions Research Initiative (APARRI) offers an 18-month Book Fellows Program supporting scholars as they develop book-length manuscripts on Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) religions. Fellows receive a $3,000 stipend, manuscript workshops, developmental editing, an in-person writing retreat, conference travel and lodging, and potential publication support of up to $3,000. Applicants must hold a doctoral degree, be faculty or independent scholars working in AAPI religious studies, and propose a monograph addressing AAPI faith and life and/or AAPI religions and democracy. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency and full participation in virtual meetings, the 2027 retreat, and the 2028 APARRI Conference are required; applications are due December 15, 2026.
