APARRI Media Fellows Program — public scholarship training for scholars of Asian Pacific American religions

About this program

APARRI, in partnership with Sacred Writes, invites 12 scholars of Asian Pacific American religions to a cohort-based Media Fellows Program—three online sessions plus an in-person workshop at UC Berkeley in June 2025—designed to train scholars to translate academic research for broader audiences. Fellows receive a $1,000 stipend, travel and lodging to UC Berkeley, one-on-one mentoring through September 30, 2025, and must attend APARRI 2025 (June 10–14) and all scheduled online sessions. Participants are expected to produce at least two pieces of public scholarship within one year of the program. Applicants must have graduate training in fields related to APA religions (doctorate preferred; non‑PhD applicants must demonstrate equivalent authority), and submit short essays, a CV, and a 90‑second introductory video; selection emphasizes readiness to be a public-facing scholar and demonstrated expertise.
