About this program

The John Templeton Foundation funds research and public-engagement projects that align with its major Funding Areas and Ventures, prioritizing discrete, project-based proposals. Grants are awarded through a two-stage, scheduled review process beginning with a required Online Funding Inquiry (OFI) submitted via the Templeton Portal, with invited applicants asked to submit a Full Proposal. Eligible applicants are primarily charitable organizations operating inside or outside the U.S.; individuals and for-profit entities are not eligible to apply except in rare, staff-invited cases, and the Foundation does not fund donations, general operating support, or ongoing program support.
