APS Student Grant Competition

About this program

The Association for Psychological Science (APS) Student Grant Competition awards up to six $500 seed grants to support early-stage student research in any area of psychological science (e.g., materials or other pre-data-collection expenses). Applicants must be current APS student affiliates (undergraduate or graduate) and may enter only one APS student competition per academic year; proposals are peer-reviewed by two independent readers on clarity, theoretical background, methods, motivation, and contribution. Submissions must be anonymized and include a project title and abstract, background, motivation with clear hypotheses, methods, theoretical implications, and an explanation of how the funds will be used, and investigators are expected to obtain institutional research approval (e.g., IRB) during the project. The 2026 competition is closed; submissions for the 2027 competition open in November 2026, and applicants receive copies of peer reviews after the competition concludes.
