APS Teaching Career Enhancement Award (TCEA)

About this program

The American Physiological Society offers the Teaching Career Enhancement Award (TCEA) providing up to $10,000 to support regular APS members (rank equivalent to Assistant Professor or higher) in developing innovative, widely applicable programs to improve teaching and learning in physiology; funds may be used for short-term visits, specialized courses, or research/development collaborations that produce products or publications, but cannot cover indirect costs, salary, or daily per diem. Awardees must use funds within the award year, attend the American Physiology Summit for the award presentation (travel paid by the awardee), and complete a short outcomes survey 3–5 years after project completion. Eligible applicants are APS members in good standing for at least two consecutive years holding rank equivalent to Assistant Professor or above (U.S. residency not required). Applications—accepted online only—must include project goals and measurable objectives, methods and collaborators, long-term impacts, a detailed budget justification with vendor quotes, required IRB/IACUC approvals or exemptions, a department chair recommendation, letters from collaborating experts, detailed course outlines if applicable, and a CV; incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
