ASE Clerkship Coordinator Recognition Award

Association for Surgical Education (ASE) sponsors the annual ASE Clerkship Coordinator Recognition Award to honor one undergraduate surgical education clerkship coordinator who demonstrates excellence in managing and supporting surgery clerkship programs, including creativity, commitment to student education, leadership, effective communication, collaboration and role-modeling. The recognition carries no specified monetary prize; the application cycle opens 2025-10-22 and no deadline is listed. Eligible nominees must be ASE members for more than one year, have served as a clerkship coordinator for over three years, demonstrate tangible improvements in processes or communication between their medical school and department of surgery, and have presented job-related material at local or national meetings. Nominators must provide a list of the nominee’s leadership roles (inside and outside the institution) and several short essays describing the nominee’s qualifications and examples of the required attributes; recipients may receive the award only once.
