ASME Gold Medal

About this program

The Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME) awards the annual ASME Gold Medal to highly experienced scholars who have made outstanding national or international contributions to medical education scholarship—including research, innovation, evaluation, or practitioner inquiry—and includes lifetime ASME membership plus an invitation to deliver a plenary lecture at the ASME Annual Scholarship Meeting with registration and travel costs covered. Nominations are invited from ASME members (individual and institutional); nominees need not be ASME members and there are no restrictions on age, nationality, profession, or occupation, though preference is given to those still active in medical education. Required nomination materials (submitted via an online form) are nominator and nominee contact details, a supporting statement (max 750 words) addressing the award criteria, the nominee’s CV, and documentation of the nominee’s consent; nominations are reviewed by at least three Board members and the ASME Board of Directors makes the final decision.
