About this program

The ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) offers the Open-Access Publishing Fund (OAPF) to support the dissemination of impactful animal welfare research by covering article processing charges up to $5,000 per article. Eligible applicants must be citizens or residents of the United States or Canada, conducting research directly relevant to animal welfare, and can be affiliated with academic institutions, research organizations, or independent entities. Applicants must demonstrate readiness to produce publishable scholarly work, meeting ethical and regulatory standards, and may receive funding only once per calendar year as the primary author. Submissions in priority areas such as cruelty prevention, animal sheltering, and farm animal welfare are encouraged.
