ASSTA Conference Travel Awards

About this program

The Australasian Speech Science and Technology Association (ASSTA) offers $500 travel awards to help researchers based in Australia or New Zealand defray costs of presenting peer‑reviewed papers at overseas conferences; funding is automatic for ICASSP, Interspeech (excluding Interspeech 2026 in Sydney) and ICPhS, while other conferences may be considered (preference for full‑paper review) subject to available funds and submission quality. Applications may be submitted any time after notification of acceptance and no later than two weeks before the conference, with award claims required within three months after attendance. Applicants must be ASSTA Early Career Ordinary members (within five years of PhD) or Student members with at least six months’ paid membership, be the first‑named author on an accepted paper for a conference held outside Australia/NZ, and not have already received an ASSTA award that calendar year; applications require a signed supervisor declaration, copy of the paper/abstract and official acceptance, and payment is made only after proof of attendance and a conference report are submitted.
