ASTS Faculty Development Grant

About this program

American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS) offers the Faculty Development Grant to support a junior faculty member in organ transplantation with $50,000 per year for two years (total $100,000) for direct research and educational costs (no applicant salary or indirect costs); one award will be made in 2026. Applicants must be ASTS Regular or Candidate members within the first five years of a faculty appointment at a UNOS‑approved (or Canadian equivalent) transplant center, have completed an ASTS‑approved (or foreign equivalent) post‑residency or post‑doctoral fellowship, and reside in North America. Application materials include a 250‑word synopsis, a 3‑page narrative plus one page of graphics, a 1‑page budget, 1‑page autobiography, department chair nomination letter, ASTS member sponsor letter, and CV; awardees may not concurrently receive similar society or certain NIH/AST/ACS/SUS support. Awardees must attend the ASTS Grant Ceremony at the American Transplant Congress, present an abstract at ATC or ASTS Winter Symposium during the grant or within six months of completion, submit mid and final reports, and may be subject to Sunshine Act reporting.
