The American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS), with funding supplied by TransMedics, offers the ASTS-TransMedics Perfusion Faculty Grant to support faculty-led research on portable normothermic machine perfusion in solid-organ transplantation, providing $100,000 per year for two years (total $200,000) for direct research and educational costs (no applicant salary or indirects). Projects should focus on outcomes, ischemia/reperfusion injury mitigation, increasing DBD/DCD utilization, organ rehabilitation, biomarker-driven prediction of graft function, perfusion protocol optimization, or related translational interventions. Eligible applicants are Regular or Candidate ASTS members who are current faculty at a UNOS-approved (or Canadian equivalent) transplant center, have completed an ASTS-approved (or equivalent) post-residency/postdoctoral fellowship, reside in North America, and may not hold concurrent similar society or NIH funding for the proposed work. Applications must include a 250-word synopsis; a 3-page narrative plus 1 page graphics (references within the 3 pages); 1-page budget; 1-page autobiography; Department Chair nomination letter; Sponsor letter from a Regular ASTS member; CV; and awardees must attend the ASTS Grant Ceremony at ATC, submit abstracts and interim/final reports, and present at ASTS meetings as required.
