About this program

The Australian Linguistic Society (ALS) offers research grants of up to AUD 5,000 to support projects across the field of linguistics; equipment funding is only awarded in exceptional circumstances and conference travel is generally excluded unless strongly justified. Applicants must complete the online application and provide a detailed proposed budget with justification for each line, and must disclose any other funding applications or approvals (including departmental or supervisor contributions) and their expected outcomes/timelines. The principal applicant must be a current financial member of ALS at the time of submission (multiple applicants permitted with separate applicant details); successful applicants will be required to sign a contract, provide full receipts and accounting, and submit a final report. Applicants should not include GST in grant requests and, if administration is through a university, must arrange invoicing procedures to avoid GST charges.
