Award for Action Research (Action Research in ELICOS Program)

About this program

English Australia, in partnership with Cambridge Assessment English, runs the annual Award for Action Research within its Action Research in ELICOS Program to support and showcase classroom-practitioner research across the ELICOS sector. The winner receives a certificate, an engraved trophy, publicity on English Australia channels, and the right to use the English Australia Award winner logo (no monetary prize). Eligible applicants are ELICOS teachers/classroom practitioners who are current participants in that year’s Action Research in ELICOS Program. Projects are assessed on clarity of focus and research questions, appropriate development, methods and data analysis, and critical reflection on impacts for learners, teacher development and classroom practice; the program runs on an annual cycle (EOI in November, selection in February, implementation March–September) with the award presented at the English Australia Conference Gala Dinner (winner announced 17 September 2025 in Melbourne).
