Award for Inclusion Research Program

About this program

Google's Award for Inclusion Research (AIR) Program provides grants up to $60,000 to support academic computing and technology research that addresses the needs of historically marginalized groups globally. Funding covers projects in areas such as accessibility, collaboration, collective & society-centered AI, and the impact of AI on education, and awards are disbursed as unrestricted gifts to the recipient's university to support research during the academic year. Eligible applicants are active professors at degree-granting institutions; proposals may include up to two PIs, and each applicant may serve as PI or co‑PI on only one submission per cycle (co‑PIs must meet the same eligibility, with a postdoc exception). Proposals must be computing/technology‑focused, define the target historically marginalized users and their involvement, and adhere to program page limits (proposal ≤5 pages; PI CV ≤2 pages) while demonstrating faculty merit, broader impact, and a clear research plan.
