The Association of Writers & Writing Programs (AWP) offers the annual Small Press Publisher Award to recognize nonprofit presses and literary journals for creativity, innovation, and sustained excellence in publishing and introducing new authors. The award carries a $2,000 honorarium plus a complimentary exhibit booth and two registrations for the AWP Conference & Bookfair in the year following recognition. Eligibility is limited to nonprofit presses and literary journals; nominations are submitted as letters of nomination via AWP’s online portal during the annual window of September 1–October 31, and the award alternates focus by year (even-numbered years: journals; odd-numbered years: presses).
