BAA Travel Grants

About this program

The British Archaeological Association offers travel grants of up to £500 to support postgraduate students’ essential site visits, attendance at exhibitions or conferences, and short research trips that fall within the Association’s remit. Applicants must be registered on a postgraduate course (M.A., M.Litt., M.St., M.Phil., Ph.D.) at a UK university or working on material related to the art, architecture, or archaeology of the British Isles, with projects focused on the Roman period to the present (core interest Roman–16th century; later periods only if directly linked by historiographical, conservationist, or antiquarian approaches). Awards are competitive and made twice yearly (deadlines 15 March and 15 May); applications must include a completed form, timetable and travel budget, plus one referee whose reference must be sent directly to the Hon. Secretary within one week of the closing date. Successful awardees are expected to provide a 150–350 word travel report for possible publication on the BAA website.
