BAICE Seedcorn and Research Capacity / Network grants

About this program

BAICE (a professional association) awards Seedcorn and Research Capacity/Network grants of up to £5,000 (BAICE aims to fund up to two awards annually) to support small-scale pilots, scoping activities and the inception/development of innovative, cross-context or cross-discipline collaborations that build new researcher communities and enable follow-on work; projects may run up to two years. Eligible costs include travel and subsistence, administrative costs, project materials, room/facility hire, catering, non‑salaried contributors’ time and dissemination; BAICE does not fund salaried applicants’ staff-time or estate/core institutional costs. Lead applicants may be based anywhere but cannot be students, cannot have led a BAICE Seedcorn/Network grant in the past three years (they may be team members), and individuals may appear on only one application per cycle. Data-generating projects require institutional ethical approval (and at least one team member with access to an ethics board) before funds are released; applicants must share outputs with BAICE (minimum one blog article or podcast) and aim to submit an academic article to Compare Journal; annual deadline 1 May (email applications to ku.ca.eciab@stnarg).
