Barbara Jelavich Book Prize

About this program

The Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies (ASEEES), sponsored by the Jelavich estate, awards the annual Barbara Jelavich Book Prize, including a cash award, for a distinguished monograph published in the previous calendar year. Eligible works must address Southeast European or Habsburg studies since 1600 or nineteenth- and twentieth-century Ottoman or Russian diplomatic history. Books must be original English-language monographs by no more than two authors; textbooks, translations, reference works, bibliographies, and self-published books are excluded, and authors of any nationality may apply. Nominations may be submitted only by the author or publisher, with the nomination form due April 15 and books received by May 15.
