Barbara Lotze Scholarship for Future Physics Teachers

About this program

The American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) Board, via the Barbara Lotze endowment, funds scholarships to support U.S. students preparing for careers as high school physics teachers, providing stipends up to $3,000 and a complimentary one‑year AAPT Student Membership. Eligible applicants are U.S. citizens who are undergraduates enrolled in accredited two‑ or four‑year colleges (or high‑school seniors accepted for such enrollment) and who declare intent to pursue physics teacher preparation and demonstrate promise of success. The award may be granted for up to four years to an individual, and applications are accepted online year‑round; submissions with all materials, including letters of recommendation, received by December 1 are considered for recommendation at the AAPT Board’s winter meeting.
