Beinecke Library Fellowship Program

About this program

The Beinecke Library Fellowship Program at Yale awards competitive short-term residential fellowships to support 2-week to 2-month onsite research with Yale Library Special Collections, providing $5,000 per month for visits conducted between June 1, 2027 and May 31, 2028. Applications open June 1, 2026 via Interfolio and close July 31, 2026, with notifications by January 31, 2027. Eligible applicants are academic and independent scholars worldwide who are not enrolled in a degree program at the time of the award (currently enrolled students should apply to graduate student fellowships); fellows are expected to spend the majority of their time working in the reading room. Required application materials (submitted through Interfolio) are a CV (3 pages max), a 1,000-word research proposal, a detailed list of collections and call numbers to be consulted, and one confidential letter of recommendation.
