Best Student Paper Award (NZFSS)

About this program

New Zealand Freshwater Sciences Society offers an annual Best Student Paper Award (AU$500) to recognize the best student first‑authored, peer‑reviewed paper in freshwater sciences published in the year preceding the NZFSS conference; the prize is presented at the conference concluding social and the winning paper is posted on the NZFSS website. Applicants must be current NZFSS members who are either currently enrolled as students (typically BSc(Hons), MSc or PhD) or have graduated within the past two years, and the work must have been completed while enrolled in a postgraduate qualification; papers may be published in any peer‑reviewed journal. To apply, submit the paper (PDF preferred) by email to info@freshwater.science.org.nz by 31 October, including a brief CRediT‑format summary of each author’s contributions; one paper per student per year and supervisor confirmation may be requested for co‑authored papers. The NZFSS Awards Committee reviews submissions and may withhold the award if entries do not meet the required standard.
