Birgit Baldwin Fellowship in Scandinavian Studies

About this program

The Society for the Advancement of Scandinavian Study (SASS) offers the $30,000 Birgit Baldwin Fellowship to support dissertation research and writing in Scandinavian/Nordic literature or film requiring work in Nordic archives and libraries. The stipend is paid in two installments to cover travel and living expenses in the Nordic region for one academic year; applications are due December 1. Applicants must be doctoral students at North American universities and SASS members in good standing during both the application and fellowship years. Applications require a dissertation proposal, research plan, evidence of relevant linguistic competency, and letters from two scholars.
