BMS Research Grant

About this program

The British Mycological Society (BMS) offers annual Research Grants up to £10,000 to support fungal biology research, with Small Grants (up to £2,000) for research visits, consumables and small equipment and Large Grants (over £2,000) to pump-prime new research directions, new-investigator start-up projects or training placements. Ineligible costs include equipment over £2,000, computers/IT, overheads, salary supplementation and applicant replacement costs. Applicants must be full BMS members employed at a university or research institute in the UK or Republic of Ireland, have held full membership for at least one year prior to application, and must not have received a BMS Research Grant in the previous two calendar years; postdoctoral applicants are eligible with a supporting letter from their supervisor. Applications are submitted via an online form (including employment history, recent funding, up to five publications and a signed Terms & Conditions) and successful grants are paid in advance to the host institution.
