Bridging the Gap Research Award

About this program

The Society of Behavioral Medicine (SBM) offers the Bridging the Gap Research Award, providing $8,000 per award (flexibly usable for equipment, data collection, analyses, consulting, or professional development) to help postdoctoral SBM members develop competitive research grant proposals; up to six one-year awards will be granted in 2025. Awardees are paired with an experienced SBM Fellow or behavioral medicine expert mentor and are required to complete at least three mentoring sessions over the funding year. Eligible applicants are postdoctoral student members of SBM, with special consideration for proposals addressing pressing social issues (e.g., health inequities, vaccination, climate change, misinformation) and for early-career researchers from underrepresented backgrounds.
