The American Association of Avian Pathologists (AAAP) offers the Bruce W. Calnek Applied Poultry Research Achievement Award, a $1,000 prize recognizing an AAAP member whose research has produced measurable, practical impact on the control of one or more important poultry diseases; the award is not given more than once to the same recipient. Eligible nominees must be AAAP members (any category) and have made contributions such as development of vaccines/immunogens, eradication program methodologies, successful chemotherapeutic approaches, discovery of disease etiology, or elucidation of pathogenesis or immunology that enabled disease control. Nominations—due February 15—must be sent by mail or email to the AAAP and include a cover letter of nomination, up to two seconding letters, a brief statement of significant contributions, detailed biographical information and professional positions, a bibliography, and the five publications deemed most significant (reprints may be requested).
