About this program

British Society for Geomorphology (BSG) Full Member Research Grants provide awards of £2,000 (deadlines 30 September and 1 February) to support specific project costs, establishment of fixed-term working groups, and the setup/maintenance of long-term geomorphological monitoring. Eligible costs include travel for research, consumables, field visits, equipment purchase/rental and dating costs with supporting quotes; BSG will not fund salaries, institutional overheads/core funding, bench fees, access charges to home-institution labs (direct laboratory consumables may be supported if justified), or conference costs, and subsistence is likely only partially supported. Applicants must be full BSG members, fully justify requested resources and any additional funding arrangements, and submit an environmental statement assessing greenhouse‑gas emissions (especially travel) and mitigations—applications without this statement are incomplete. Proposals are evaluated on research quality, value for money and expected outcomes, and successful awardees must acknowledge BSG (and Wiley where relevant), adhere to BSG open-data/publishing expectations, claim funds promptly, and provide expenditure and project outcome reports within the required timeframes.
