BSSH Pump Priming Research Scheme

The British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH) offers the Pump Priming Research Scheme, providing up to £10,000 annually to support early-stage research, systematic reviews, proof‑of‑principle and feasibility studies with potential patient benefit and to seed larger external funding applications. Applicants must be BSSH members or include a full BSSH member on the application if the lead is not a Fellow or Associate, and successful projects must commence within six months of award. Recipients are required to provide a progress report six months after first payment and a final report within three months of project completion, produce an infographic summarising study design and findings, and are expected to seek publication where appropriate. Applications are emailed to secretariat@bssh.ac.uk by 1 August each year; awards are decided in the autumn and may follow an interview.
