About this program

American Center of Research (ACOR) offers the Burton MacDonald and Rosemarie Sampson Fellowship to support Canadian undergraduate or graduate students conducting research in Ancient Near Eastern languages and history, archaeology, biblical studies, or comparative religion. Two award options are available: a four-week residency at ACOR in Amman including room and board plus a $1,500 stipend, or a $2,500 travel grant to support participation on an archaeological project or independent research in Jordan; awards must be used between May 1 of the award year and April 30 of the following year. Applicants must be enrolled undergraduate or graduate students who are Canadian citizens or landed immigrants and must submit a completed application form, an academic review or acceptance letter from a project director or institution, a project proposal (up to 2,000 words), transcripts, and one recommendation. Applications are due February 15 (year not specified) with successful applicants notified in April.
