CAA Public Communications Awards

About this program

The Canadian Archaeological Association (CAA) offers annual Public Communications Awards to recognize outstanding public-facing communication that advances understanding and appreciation of Canadian archaeology; three categories are offered—Writer/Producer (one award with a $200 CAD cash prize and framed certificate), Professional/Institutional, and Social Media (framed certificates). Eligible works must have been published or produced during the previous calendar year in English or French and be presented in lay terms for public awareness; eligible formats include print articles, books/pamphlets, TV/video/radio (including YouTube), electronic publications/websites, social media, and museum exhibitions with substantial written or video content. Nominations must be submitted by CAA members via the award nomination form and include a copy of the nominated material, a nomination letter identifying the category, and written permission from the nominee if the nominator is not the nominee; current Public Communications Committee members are ineligible and winners are announced at the CAA Annual Meeting.
