Career Development Grant

About this program

Palaeontological Association's Career Development Grant provides up to £2,500 to support early-career researchers who have recently submitted or are about to submit their PhD, funding measurable activities that strengthen the CV (e.g., living costs while preparing publications or fellowship applications, further data collection, training, or internships); funds are paid after thesis submission and cessation of PhD funding and are normally available from January following the application deadline. Recipients are automatically enrolled in the PalAss mentoring scheme and must submit a short report; funds cannot be used for overheads, open‑access/page charges, or to employ another person. Applicants must be Association members, have submitted or will submit their PhD within the past year, and have no other substantial financial support after PhD funding ends; those who have or have had postdocs/fellowships are ineligible. Proposals must align with the Association’s charitable aims and ethics and are evaluated on demonstrable need, clarity and feasibility of the career plan, and value for money.
