Carlton C. Qualey Memorial Article Award

About this program

Offered annually by the Immigration and Ethnic History Society, the Carlton C. Qualey Memorial Article Award recognizes the best article published in the Journal of American Ethnic History from the previous calendar year and carries a $500 prize presented at the IEHS banquet during the Organization of American Historians meeting. The 2026 award will honor articles published in JAEH during 2025, and the award committee automatically considers all articles published in the eligibility period. Eligible applicants are the authors of those JAEH articles; no application or letter of intent is required. Questions may be directed to JAEH editor Suzanne Sinke (qualeyaward@iehs.org), and awardees unable to attend the banquet may request limited financial assistance from IEHS.
