CCS-Bayer Cardiovascular Research Award

About this program

The Canadian Cardiovascular Society, supported by Bayer Inc., offers the CCS‑Bayer Cardiovascular Research Award to fund original clinical trainee research in Canada on thrombosis, anticoagulation, stroke, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, cardiac imaging, or related vascular/thrombotic/embolic topics, with three peer‑reviewed awards of $20,000, $15,000 and $10,000 and a $5,000 audience‑voted prize for one finalist. Eligible applicants are PGY‑4 to PGY‑6 trainees enrolled in a Royal College–approved Canadian clinical training program (e.g., adult/pediatric cardiology, cardiac/vascular surgery) who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents; awardees must be CCS members to receive funds (membership not required at application). Projects must be original, conducted in Canada, completed within 12 months, not primarily supplement existing funded work, and must specify the applicant’s role in multicenter/sub‑studies; finalists present a 10‑minute talk plus questions at the Canadian Cardiovascular Congress. Awards are peer‑reviewed and administered through the awardee’s affiliated university Cardiology Division.
